The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is the largest international, non-profit, non-governmental organization working worldwide for conservation of nature. The WWF Russia Program Office established in 1994 seeks a Conservation Officer for the Altai-Sayan Eco-Regional Conservation Project.
The position will initially be based in Gorno-Altaisk, but will require extensive travel within the Altai-Sayan region. The Conservation Officer will have the primary responsibility for co-ordinating and supervising the implementation of WWF projects in the Altai-Sayan. He will furhermore be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of constructive contacts with regional government, non-government and academic institutions in the Altai-Sayan region.
Minimal requirements:
- M.Sc. in natural sciences, economics, or other relevant fields
- Fluency in English and Russian; other languages are an advantage
- At least three years of experience in a managerial function
- Acquaintance with and commitment to nature conservation issues
- Readiness to frequently travel within the Altai-Sayan eco-region
- (Altai, Tuva, Khakassia, Krasnoyarsk regions) and to Moscow
- Good knowledge of the Altai-Sayan region.
